Message from the President:
Welcome Kiwanians and Guests,
Kiwanis is a global organization helping to change the world, one child and one community at a time.
Founded in 1915, the international organization of volunteers is over 600,000 members strong, serving in 15,000 clubs in more than 90 nations. Here, in the Rocky Mountain District Colorado, Wyoming and the panhandle of Nebraska, there are more than 4,000 of us, 43 of whom are members of the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood.
If you are a butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker……….or any profession from “A”rtist to “Z”oo keeper………..or a stay-at-home Mom or Dad ………or retired and just enjoying being a Grandma or Grandpa, this is the place for you!
Kiwanians have helped eradicate diseases (specifically iodine deficiency), build schools, shelter the homeless, and feed the hungry.
The Kiwanis Club of Lakewood has helped fund the Pediatric Trauma Institute at Children’s Hospital, provide food and clothing to the Jeffco Action Center, assist the Salvation Army with Christmas bell ringing, take the Jungle Mobile (a safety education tool) to rural areas of our district to teach children safety, provide Easter baskets to Head Start children, and many, many other efforts.
We’d love for you to join us. Here’s a little bit about what’s in it for you………
· The incredible sense of pride and satisfaction you will personally feel when you know that you’ve improved the life of even one child.
· Enduring friendships. This Club has members who have been with us from one month to 54 years. The interaction between male and female, and young and old, is amazing.
· It’s fun!. We laugh, we sing, we party ……well, just come and see for yourself.
· Sharpen your leadership skills. There are many opportunities to participate in club, division, or district leadership roles.
· Develop business contacts. While this is not a leads group, and we don’t openly do infomercials, we do stick together and do business with one another. It just makes good sense. The more successful each individual member is, the more successful the group can be.
We’d love to meet you. Just drop in to any Wednesday meeting (info at top of page.) I’ll be waiting for you!
Warm regards,
Joni Inman
